We get a lot of questions about ordering our cakes & cupcakes, so we’ve put together a few guidelines to help make things a little easier. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to CONTACT US.
CUPCAKES
> Do you have every cupcake flavor on your menu for sale in the cake studio?
All of our cupcakes are freshly baked on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We are happy to take advance orders for cupcakes over the phone or if you stop by our cake studio in person, we currently only have cupcakes available for retail sale Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. > Do you offer gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, vegan cupcakes?
Absolutely! Almost every one of our cupcakes can be prepared gluten-free. We also have a great selection of dairy-free and egg-free cupcakes. We also have a Vegan options that are delicious. GF, DF and vegan cupcakes are a minimum of 12 per order of the same cake base flavor, with two frosting options, and must be placed at least 72 hours in advance. Get in touch with us for more info.
> Can I order my cupcakes over the phone? By e-mail?
Yes. Call (215) 884-0254 or email info@velvetskybakery.com – if you call and receive our voicemail, leave a detailed message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. No voicemail or email order is confirmed until we return your call or reply to your email. For cupcake towers, wedding cakes and specialty cakes, a consultation is usually required. Please call us at (215) 884 0254 to schedule an appointment.
> How far in advance must I place my cupcake order?
Cupcakes:
Please allow at least 2 full days between order and pick up. Please note that we cannot make every flavor in a day’s notice.
Cupcake towers:
We recommend at least two weeks before pickup or delivery. For cupcake towers that include a cake and/or delivery, a consultation is necessary and scheduling an appointment is strongly recommended. You are welcome to walk in for a consultation Wednesdays – Saturdays, but please keep in mind we are always busy working on cakes throughout the day and it may take a few minutes before we can accommodate you with a meeting.
CAKES
There is a $150 minimum on all sculpted custom cakes. 8″ round birthday cakes start at $89.00.
> Can I come in and pick up a cake for my event today?
All cakes are custom-made to order at Velvet Sky Bakery. We do not stock pre-made cakes.
> Sizing Your Order
Here is a helpful guide for sizing your order for single layer and tiered cakes. Keep in mind that we can accommodate cakes of all sizes to suit your events’ needs! Our cakes are approximately 4 inches high – two layers of cake with a layer of buttercream filling in between.

> When do I need to place my cake order?
As we are a small bakery, we highly recommend that you place your cake order as far in advance as possible to be sure that we can accommodate you. We book on a first come, first serve basis and take on only as many cakes as we can handle. We can book up quickly – all dates are subject to availability. You are welcome to walk in for a consultation, but please keep in mind we are always busy working on cakes throughout the day and it may take a few minutes before we can accommodate you with a meeting.

> Does Velvet Sky deliver?
Yes! We have a large delivery radius, and will deliver wedding cakes and cupcake towers to the greater Philadelphia area. Delivery charges are additional and are based on distance to the location.
> What methods of payment does Velvet Sky accept?
We currently accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Checks are accepted for contractual orders.
